Our Services
Our Ecological Services & Habitat Improvement Methods Include:
Prescribed Fire
The utilization of prescribed fire is a safe and appropriate management tool in a majority of our ecosystems in the Southeast. Long before the arrival of Europeans, fires were sparked naturally by lightning strikes and they were intentionally set by Indigenous Peoples. Many of our upland plant species such as oaks, pines, asters, milkweed, blueberries, and native grasses all depend on fire to thrive healthily and repopulate for generations. Without fire, trees and shrubs shade out the ground layer of herbaceous plants, which in turn decreases the biodiversity in an area.
Prescribed fire also reduces the amount of organic matter on the ground, which can lower the risk of an unplanned wildfire.
Herbicide Applications
Utilizing herbicides is the most effective way to control the growth of invasive plants or other species undesirable to a site.
We have various application methods in our toolkit such as hack and squirt and foliar applications.
Mechanical Removal
Our field technicians are trained and skilled to use chainsaws, forestry saws, and weed trimmers to safely remove woody snd herbaceous plant species.
With access to machinery such as miniature excavators and mulchers, we can clean up woody debris as desired while disturbing as little soil as possible.
Biological Monitoring
If you are interested in knowing the plants and animals that call your property home, we can utilize vegetative plots, mammal, bird, insect, amphibian, and reptile surveys to give you an understanding of the life that resides around you. These surveys also document the changes in these organisms over time.
Our Services can be applied in many different settings, with a wide range of benefits such as:
Increased biodiversity, resulting in healthier ecosystems
Increased presence and health of wildlife populations
